Questions

Before you book.

Do I need a referral?

No. Menopause and perimenopause care at Rosedale is provided by our GPs, so you can book directly without a referral from another doctor.

Can I be seen by video instead of coming in?

Yes. Dr Priya Ashwath consults by video across New South Wales, and Dr Natasha Paul offers both in person and video appointments. Please read the note above about Medicare rebate eligibility for telehealth, as it affects what you pay.

How long is the first appointment?

Forty minutes. Menopause and perimenopause consultations cover symptoms, cycle changes, medical and family history, and a discussion of the available options, which is not something a standard appointment length allows for.

Am I too young for this to be perimenopause?

Perimenopause commonly begins in the forties, and can begin earlier. If your cycle, sleep, mood or concentration have changed and you are wondering whether hormones are involved, that is a reasonable thing to bring to an appointment for assessment.

What treatment options will we discuss?

That depends on you. Your GP will talk through the options available for menopause and perimenopause, both medical and non medical, and explain what each one involves. What is appropriate depends on your symptoms, your medical history and your preferences, and it is decided with you during the consultation rather than before it.

I think ADHD might be part of the picture too.

Both Dr Paul and Dr Ashwath work across menopause and ADHD care. If concentration and attention changes are part of what you are noticing, mention it when you book so enough time is allocated.
