"I've been on ADHD medication for a while. My specialist says I'm stable, I just need someone to keep writing my scripts."

Your pathway: Continuation

Show me what to do Hide details

What this means

If you've been diagnosed with ADHD and you're stable on your medication, our NSW Authorised Continuation Prescribers can take over your ongoing scripts. You won't need to return to your specialist for every refill.

What you'll need

  • A specialist letter dated within the last 12 months
  • The letter confirms your diagnosis, current medication, and dose
  • The letter says you're stable on your treatment
  • You're aged 6 or over

Next step

Book with Dr Saini (ages 6+) or Dr Paul (adults 18+) on our continuation page. You'll send your letter before your first visit.

Available now

"My specialist wants to stay involved with my ADHD care. I want a GP to handle the regular reviews and prescriptions in between."

Your pathway: Shared care

Show me what to do Hide details

What this means

Shared care is a formal arrangement where your specialist stays involved in your overall treatment plan, and Dr Saini manages your regular reviews and prescriptions in between specialist visits. Fewer specialist appointments, with their oversight maintained.

What you'll need

  • Your specialist's agreement to share your care with us
  • A recent letter from them outlining your treatment plan
  • Willingness to attend more frequent reviews than standard continuation

Good to know

Shared care involves more frequent reviews to keep your treatment safe and on track. Fees depend on the length of each visit. Reception can give you an estimate when you call.

"I think I have ADHD but I've never been formally diagnosed. I want to be assessed and start treatment."

Your pathway: Diagnosis

Show me what to do Hide details

What this means

ADHD diagnosis and starting treatment requires what's called "endorsed prescriber" status. Our GPs are completing this training right now, and we expect to open our diagnosis service in Q3 2026. We're building a waitlist that we'll work through in order.

What you can do today

  • Join the diagnosis waitlist on HotDoc, no cost, no obligation
  • The earlier you're on the list, the sooner we can see you
  • We'll contact you the moment our service opens

Don't want to wait?

You can see a private psychiatrist or paediatrician for assessment now. Once you've been diagnosed and stable on medication for a few months, our doctors can take over your ongoing care under continuation.

"I was diagnosed with ADHD years ago, but I've been off medication for a while. I want to restart treatment."

Your pathway: Reinitiation

Show me what to do Hide details

What this means

Under NSW Health rules, restarting ADHD medication after an extended break is treated as a fresh assessment, even when your original diagnosis and medication haven't changed. It sits in the same pathway as a new diagnosis.

What you can do today

  • Join our diagnosis and reinitiation waitlist on HotDoc
  • Note on the form that you've been previously diagnosed
  • We'll contact you the moment our service opens in Q3 2026

Don't want to wait?

Your GP can refer you to a psychiatrist to re-establish you on medication. Once you've been stable again for a few months, our doctors can take over your ongoing care under continuation.

Need help deciding

"My situation isn't quite right for any of these. My specialist letter might be too old, or my doctor won't transfer my care, or I'm not sure if I'm stable."

Your pathway: It depends, here's how to find out

Common edge cases

These are the situations that don't fit cleanly into one pathway. Each has a clear answer on our continuation FAQ page.

  • ?My specialist letter is older than 12 months. You'll need an updated letter, or you can join the diagnosis waitlist for a fresh assessment by us.
  • ?I'm not stable on my medication yet. Continue with your specialist until they confirm stability, then come back to us.
  • ?My specialist won't transfer care. Shared care with Dr Saini may still work, ask your specialist directly.
  • ?I'm not sure if my child qualifies. Children aged 6 and over with a recent paediatrician letter qualify for continuation.

Still not sure?

Our continuation page has a full FAQ covering 13 common questions, including these edge cases in more detail.

A note on this page: This is a self-guided tool to help you find the right starting point. It's not a clinical assessment, and the right pathway for you may need to be confirmed by your GP at your first visit. If you're unsure which scenario fits, the "Need help deciding" card above is the best place to start.
