Yes. A valid referral is required for bulk-billing to apply. Referrals are accepted from any GP, specialist, or allied health professional — not just Rosedale clinicians. If you need one, your Rosedale GP can provide it at your next appointment.
Is it completely bulk-billed?
Yes — for eligible Medicare card holders with a valid referral. No gap, no out-of-pocket cost, no surcharges. If you're unsure about eligibility, call reception before your appointment.
How do I prepare for my scan?
Preparation depends on the scan type. For abdominal ultrasounds, you'll typically need to fast for 4–6 hours beforehand. For pelvic scans, you may need a full bladder. Your referring clinician and our reception team will give you specific instructions when you book.
When will my referring clinician get the results?
View Medical Imaging provides next-day reporting. Results are sent directly to whoever referred you — your GP, specialist, or allied health provider — who will follow up with you as needed.
Is ultrasound safe?
Yes. Ultrasound uses sound waves, not radiation, making it safe for all ages — including pregnancy. It's the standard imaging method for routine diagnostic work where radiation isn't required.
I have a referral from another clinic — can I still book?
Absolutely. Referrals from any GP, specialist, or allied health professional are accepted. Call reception or book online via HotDoc — we'll get you into the next available Tuesday morning slot.
How long does a scan take?
Most scans take 15–30 minutes, depending on what's being imaged. Complex vascular or MSK studies may take longer. We'll let you know the expected duration at booking.
Can I see the images during my scan?
Your sonographer can show you images during the scan, but they don't provide diagnostic interpretation at the appointment — that's reserved for the reported findings, which your referring clinician will discuss with you when results come through.
