General, musculoskeletal and vascular ultrasound at Rosedale, 70 Castle Hill Road, with no out-of-pocket cost for eligible Medicare patients who have a valid referral. Scans are performed by accredited sonographers from View Medical Imaging, an independent, locally owned imaging team.
Referrals from any GP, specialist or allied health professional are welcome, not just Rosedale clinicians.

Three steps to your scan
From referral to results, most patients are scanned within one to two weeks of booking.
Get a referral
Any GP, specialist or allied health professional can refer you. If you don't have one yet, your Rosedale GP can assess and refer at your next appointment.
Book a Tuesday morning
Call reception or book online. Sessions run every Tuesday, 8:30am to 12:30pm, at 70 Castle Hill Road.
Results the next day
View Medical Imaging reports within 24 hours. Results go directly to your referring clinician for review and follow-up.

Common questions before your scan
Do I need a referral?
Yes. A valid referral is required for bulk billing to apply. Referrals are accepted from any GP, specialist or allied health professional, not just Rosedale clinicians. If you need one, your Rosedale GP can provide it at your next appointment.
Is it completely bulk billed?
Yes, for eligible Medicare card holders with a valid referral. No gap and no surcharges. If you're unsure about eligibility, call reception before your appointment.
How do I prepare for my scan?
It depends on the scan. For abdominal ultrasounds you'll usually need to fast for 4 to 6 hours beforehand. For pelvic scans you may need a full bladder. Your referring clinician and our reception team will give you specific instructions when you book.
When will my clinician get the results?
View Medical Imaging reports within 24 hours. Results are sent directly to whoever referred you, who will follow up with you as needed.
Is ultrasound safe?
Yes. Ultrasound uses sound waves, not radiation, so it's suitable for all ages, including during pregnancy.
I have a referral from another clinic. Can I still book?
Yes. Referrals from any GP, specialist or allied health professional are accepted. Call reception or book online and we'll get you into the next available Tuesday morning slot.
How long does a scan take?
Most scans take 15 to 30 minutes, depending on what's being imaged. Complex vascular or musculoskeletal studies may take longer. We'll let you know the expected duration at booking.
Can I see the images during my scan?
Your sonographer can show you images during the scan, but they don't give a diagnosis at the appointment. That comes from the reported findings, which your referring clinician will discuss with you.
