Before your visit.
The questions patients ask most often about the 4Cyte collection centre at Rosedale.
Do I need an appointment?
No appointment needed for most tests. Walk in during opening hours with your referral. A small number of specialised tests (such as glucose tolerance) need to be booked ahead — call 4Cyte on 13 42 98 if you're unsure.
Do I need to be a Rosedale patient?
No. 4Cyte at Rosedale accepts referrals from any GP, specialist, or allied health professional — even if you've never visited Rosedale before. Bring your referral and we'll handle the rest.
Is it bulk-billed?
Most tests are bulk-billed with a valid Medicare card and referral. A small number of tests (such as some genomic or non-Medicare-rebated tests) may have an out-of-pocket cost. 4Cyte will let you know at collection if any fee applies.
Do I need to fast?
Some tests require fasting (usually 8–12 hours). Common fasting tests include lipid panels, glucose tolerance, and fasting insulin. Your referring clinician will let you know — when in doubt, fast and come first thing in the morning.
How long do results take?
Standard pathology turnaround is 1–3 working days. Some specialised tests take longer (NIPT around 7–10 days, pharmacogenomic testing around 2–3 weeks). Results are sent directly to your referring clinician.
Are Saturdays really open?
Yes — 8am to 12pm every Saturday. A genuine option for patients who can't attend during the working week. Walk-in only, same as weekdays.
Can children get blood tests here?
Yes. 4Cyte's collection staff are experienced with paediatric collections in our calm GP-clinic setting. Bring a support person if it helps — distraction toys, snacks for after, and patience all welcome.
Who do I contact about billing or results?
Billing & results enquiries: contact 4Cyte directly on 13 42 98 — they handle all pathology billing and result delivery.
Got a referral? Walk in.
Open Monday to Saturday at 70 Castle Hill Road — no appointment needed for most tests. Just bring your referral and Medicare card.
