Does any of this sound familiar?

Menopause is about far more than hot flushes.

Sometimes the hardest part is not knowing whether several seemingly unrelated changes belong together.

“Why am I awake again?”Waking at 2 or 3am, night sweats or sleep that no longer restores you.
“My brain is not working.”Brain fog, losing words, forgetfulness or difficulty concentrating.
“I do not react like me.”Irritability, anxiety, low mood or reduced emotional resilience.
“My periods are all over the place.”Shorter, longer, heavier, lighter or increasingly unpredictable cycles.
“I am tired all the time.”Fatigue that feels out of proportion to your workload or sleep.
“My body feels different.”Hot flushes, sweating, joint aches or unfamiliar physical changes.
“Sex has changed.”Reduced libido, dryness, discomfort or changes in intimacy.
“Could this all be connected?”You do not need to know the answer before you book.

My blood tests were normal. So why do I not feel normal?

Hormone levels can fluctuate considerably during perimenopause. For many women, understanding what is happening relies heavily on age, symptoms, menstrual history and the overall clinical picture rather than one isolated hormone result.

Blood tests can still be useful when clinically indicated, including when checking for other causes of symptoms. A menopause consultation starts with your story, then decides what testing is useful.

Forty minutes to look at the whole picture.

This is a dedicated menopause consultation rather than trying to squeeze a complex transition into a short appointment.

1

Tell the whole story

Symptoms, cycles, sleep, mood, thinking, sexual health and relevant history.

2

Make sense of the pattern

Consider whether perimenopause or menopause may fit and what else should be assessed.

3

Discuss your options

Review evidence-based treatment options and lifestyle measures suited to you.

4

Agree on a plan

Decide on useful investigations, treatment and the timing of follow-up.

Treatment is personal

Not one approach for everyone. Not just put up with it.

The right approach depends on your symptoms, medical history, risk factors, priorities and preferences.

Evidence-based treatment

Treatment options can be discussed where appropriate, including likely benefits, potential risks and what suits your circumstances.

Lifestyle and symptom-focused care

Sleep, exercise, nutrition and other symptom-focused measures can form part of the plan alongside clinical care.

Midlife health

Sleep, bone health, cardiovascular risk, preventive care, mood and other priorities can form part of the plan.

Questions before you book.

Do I need a referral?

No. Dr Priya is a Specialist GP, so you can book a menopause consultation directly.

Is this appointment only for women who already know they are in perimenopause?

No. Part of the consultation is considering whether perimenopause or menopause fits the pattern and whether other causes should be investigated.

Do I need blood tests before booking?

Not necessarily. Dr Priya can discuss whether blood tests or other investigations are appropriate after reviewing your symptoms, cycles, age and history.

What treatment options can we discuss?

Evidence-based treatment is discussed where clinically appropriate, including potential benefits, risks and the different approaches that may suit you. Lifestyle and symptom-focused care can also be discussed.

Is the consultation available outside NSW?

Yes. Menopause telehealth appointments with Dr Priya are available Australia-wide. Medicare rebate eligibility requirements still apply.

Does Dr Priya offer other telehealth appointments for new patients?

Yes. Two video consultations are open to new patients with a Medicare rebate, even if you have not visited Rosedale in person: a bulk-billed video consultation for babies under 12 months, and a 30-minute sexual health consultation by video ($187, Medicare rebate available). Other new-patient telehealth appointments are privately billed unless you have seen a Rosedale GP in person within the last 12 months.

Can Dr Priya help with ADHD continuation care?

Dr Priya also provides ADHD continuation care for eligible adults in NSW. That service has separate eligibility and booking requirements. View the ADHD continuation pathway.

You do not need to have it figured out before you book.
