Common questions

Before you visit.

The questions patients ask most often about on-site diagnostics at Rosedale.

Do I need to be a Rosedale patient?

No. Both services accept referrals from any GP, specialist, or allied health professional — not just Rosedale clinicians. Bring your referral and we'll handle the rest.

Do I need an appointment for pathology?

Not for most tests. Walk in during opening hours with your referral. Some specialised tests (like glucose tolerance) need to be booked ahead — call 4Cyte on 13 42 98 if unsure.

How do I book an ultrasound?

Book via HotDoc online, or call Rosedale reception on 02 9680 9644. Sessions run every Tuesday morning, 8:30am–12:30pm.

What should I bring?

Your referral form and Medicare card. For pathology, bring private insurance details if you don't have Medicare. For ultrasound, follow any preparation instructions from your referring clinician (e.g. fasting for abdominal scans).

How do I get my results?

Results are sent directly to your referring clinician — your GP, specialist, or allied health provider. They'll review the results and follow up with you. Pathology turnaround is usually 1–3 days; ultrasound results are reported next-day.

Is ultrasound safe during pregnancy?

Yes. Ultrasound uses sound waves, not radiation, and is the standard imaging method during pregnancy and for all ages.

What about billing questions?

Pathology billing: direct with 4Cyte on 13 42 98. Ultrasound billing: fully bulk-billed for eligible Medicare patients with a valid referral — no out-of-pocket cost. Call reception if you're unsure about eligibility.

Diagnostics, without the runaround.

Walk in for pathology, book a Tuesday ultrasound slot. Both at 70 Castle Hill Road — no travel, no surprise costs.
