As a patient, we understand that your heart health is important to you. That’s why we offer a free comprehensive heart health assessment that focuses on your unique needs. That’s right, our heart health check is offered at no out of pocket expense to you.
Our goal is to provide you with simple and practical recommendations to help you understand your risk of heart disease and improve the health of your heart. We encourage you to schedule a Heart Health Check with us today to take the first step towards a healthier heart.
What is involved in a heart health check?
What should I expect from my heart health check?
As you prepare for your heart health check, it’s natural to wonder what to expect. You might feel a bit nervous, but rest assured that this check is designed to help you take care of your heart and overall health.
During your heart health check, our Practice Pharmacist Chris Thornton will take several measurements and ask you some questions to gain a better understanding of your heart health. Chris will likely check your blood pressure, and ask you questions about your lifestyle habits, such as your exercise routine, diet, and whether you smoke or drink alcohol. Chris will then feed this information forward to your GP, who will determine your risk of developing heart disease and give you personalized recommendations for improving your heart health. Your GP will listen to your heart with a stethoscope, and if appropriate, perform an electrocardiogram (ECG) to assess your heart’s electrical activity.
Overall, your heart health check is an important step in taking care of yourself and your heart. By getting a clear picture of your heart health, you can take proactive steps to improve your overall health and prevent heart disease. Remember to be honest with your healthcare provider and ask any questions you may have during your check. Your health is important, and your healthcare team is here to support you.
Am I eligible for a heart health check?
If you’re over the age of 45, or over the age of 30 if you’re of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, and you haven’t had a heart attack or stroke, you may be eligible for a heart health check. This assessment can help you and your doctor identify any potential risk factors for heart disease.
What out of pocket fees should I expect?
We understand that the cost of medical care can be a concern. That’s why we are offering heart health checks at no out of pocket expense to you. However, please note that there may be fees for any further tests or follow-up consultations that may be required, and you will be informed of any costs involved.
How often should I have a heart health check?
It is recommended that you see your General Practitioner every year for a follow-up heart health check. This will allow you and your doctor to monitor your progress and make any necessary changes to your plan to keep your heart healthy.

At our practice, we believe in the importance of preventative and proactive healthcare. We have a dedicated team of healthcare professionals, including our Practice Pharmacist Chris Thornton and GP Registrar Dr. Jessica Chen (pictured above), who are passionate about supporting our patients in achieving the best possible health outcomes.
